The series is divided into seven sub-series: minutes, correspondence, reports, publications, the United Theological College of the West Indies (UTCWI), and general subject files. The records in these sub-series either pertain to LCA work with the Lutheran Church of Guyana, matters with LCA missionaries deployed in Guyana, or matters involving the UTCWI. This series contains copies of the Lutheran Church in Guyana publication Southern Cross. It is not a complete publishing run and for the years contained in this series several issues are missing. Please consult folders 1 and 2 in box 3 for a list of those issues that are missing. Subject matter of records in this series includes Lutheran World Federation and World Council of Churches assemblies, the creation of the new church's Division for Global Mission, an inter-agency consultation on married women missionaries, pastors immigrating from overseas churches, Episcopal-Lutheran relations, ecumenism, designated advance giving, the 1985 merger of the Canada section of the LCA with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada (ELCIC), the joint The American Lutheran Church/Lutheran Church in America committee on Tanzania, and minority ministries. Records of note include those related to DWME job descriptions. These are very complete and contain descriptions for all executive and support staff positions within the DWME. Also of note is one folder of material pertaining to issues the DWME was trying to resolve with itself and the United Evangelical Lutheran Churches in India involving efforts of the DWME to work with the Gossner people of India. Other records of interest are those pertaining to the work completed by an inter-agency consultation committee on married women missionaries. Records are arranged alphabetically by subject.
